The mission of A Kula Hawai'i is to empower students with freedom in knowledge and action centered in Self Awareness, and to bring new respect of Hawaiian culture and religion that recognized the sacred Oneness in the whole of Nature.
We believe students have unlimited potential.
~
We seek to empower students to see the world through multiple perspectives to expand awareness, resulting in greater empathy, curiosity, and understanding of the whole.
~
In social settings, we help students relate to all and not limit themselves based on perceived identities.
~
We support students in trusting their internal understanding of Self to guide their actions in the world.
~
We strive to help students recognize the connection of all things.

Our Commitment
Moving Forward
Relationships & Sense of Belonging
We believe all learning starts with positive and respectful relationships. By prioritizing relationships, our students will develop a deep sense of belonging and safety that are essential to taking risks, learning, and growing together.
Hybrid Flexibility
Students can learn online from home (or the beach!) two days per week with our hybrid schedule. In addition, we personalize learning so that students can learn at their own pace.
Student-Centered
Our students will identify their learning purpose and be empowered to co-design learning experiences that positively impact self, community (both local and global), and the environment.
Competency-Based
Clear competencies are used by both students and teachers to set goals, assess learning, and measure progress together. Competency-Based Education transforms grading from a judgment to a collaborative tool for growth.
Local & Global Community Connections
Our students will have the opportunity to embrace local & global community learning experiences through mentors, expert guest speakers, field trips (IRL & virtual), service learning, apprenticeships and work experiences to amplify their education.
Innovation Focused
All knowledge and skills will be integrated and applied to projects that tap into studentsʻ passions and allow them to authentically address questions and problems that they care deeply about.
Place-Based, Indigenous Knowledge
Students will view the world through multiple lenses, including ʻĀina-Based and Indigenous Hawaiian-Culture Based Learning, to gain a perspective that is far more expansive and universal than one that relies solely on a Western perspective.
Electives & Extracurriculars
A holistic learning experience includes opportunities for students to participate in the arts, world languages, gardening, STEM and coding, PE and athletics/clubs. Our students will have a dynamic schedule of electives and after-school activities to choose from.
